The storyline update (version 1.0.7) was developed due to criticism by large game rating organizations. It is finished at level 30 and has different enemies for different levels of experience.

Part 1[]

Buck Crosshaw, the game's main protagonist, suddenly awakens from a deep sleep by a woman's scream, which he thinks is the scream of a vulture.

It is revealed that he's headed West after thinking that he has possibly killed his own wife. Many times throughout the Storyline, he recalls a flashback of someone in the shadows, killing her. but he is not sure if that really happened, due to his problems with alcoholism which scattered his memories.

Buck then makes his way down to Williamson's ranch in Arizona and finds that it is being raided by a duo of Bandits and a Lady is being held captive. Buck then saves her by defeating the bandits in a fist fight. He then makes his way to the abandoned town of Prosperidad to help the Sheriff take down more outlaws. After the outlaws were killed, the sheriff noticed colums of smoke rising from Williamson's Ranch and he proceeded to immediately head over to investigate, though Buck managed to get there first. It turns out, the ranch is being ravaged by a band of outlaws and the same lady, who was saved earlie,r is again held captive. Buck immediately puts out the fires and once again rescues The Lady. as a reward for his efforts, he was given a horse. As Buck was living, the Lady calls out to him, thanking him for saving her life. But when she calls him "darlin", this caused Buck to have a sudden memory of his wife in which she meets a mysterious death. This left him frustrated and he decided to get some alcohol from the barman.

Buck then makes his way down to Socorro Town in Oregon and is immediately confronted by The Sheriff, whom he is enemies with for the murder of his wife. Though Buck tries to assure him that there must be some mistake and that he didn't kill anyone,tThe lawman swears at him, saying that they found body parts in his house and that Buck and his wife were up to something "sick". This caused Buck to have a sudden memory of his wife and that he is responsible in killing her, which left him in shock and disbelief. The Sheriff then tells him that people had seen his wife acting strange and mysterious. When Buck begins telling him that his wife died weeks ago, he was interrupted by incoming bandits, who sought to take over Socorro. Teaming up, Buck and the Sheriff takes down all the bandits and the Sheriff lets Buck go.

SLwife

The wife's grave

That evening Buck makes a visit to the local cemetery with flowers, as he is going to visit his wife's grave. However, when he arrived, he finds that the grave is being robbed by grave robbers and her body is immediately taken. During a standoff, Buck managed to nearly kill all of them and one of the grave robbers fled. Buck proceeded to chase him down but the grave robber manages to escape. Upon returning to the Socorro cemetery he decided to begin his own investigation into the death of his wife. After dumping the flowers he had gotten into the spot where the latter was buried, Buck finds that the grave robber has escaped to Fort Malanoche in Arizona. Upon arriving at the fort, a shootout ensues between Buck and the grave robber, who was armed with a Gatling Annihilator and is supported by a band of bandits, who had taken residence in the abandoned fort.

Mission[]

After each wave, the grave robber throws a stick of dynamite at you, and you must throw it back to destroy his cover. After three dynamite sticks, he will fall from his perch and is vulnerable to your attacks. From there, keep shooting him until his health is depleted. Buck later interrogates the dying grave robber about who sent them here.

SLgang

The outlaw gang in the storyline

After defeating and gravely wounding the grave robber, Buck learns from the latter that the grave robbers were hired by a barman back in Socorro Town. In Socorro, Buck tries to get information out of the Barman, who orders several bandits to attack Buck. After fighting them off with only his own fists, Buck angrily questions the Barman through force, and the latter reveals that a new outlaw gang has arrived in town and that they are the most vicious and cruel "bastards" to ever walk the earth. He also states that the gang is brutal, ruthless, and completely amoral, as they had kidnapped innocent people to work in the gold mines as slaves until they die from starvation or from being whipped.

The Barman then revealed that they had taken his son and he was forced to take care of their business so that his son would be kept out of the mine. When Buck asks on why they took his wife's body, the Barman tells him that only their leader knows and refused to reveal the leader's identity. This provokes Buck into smashing the Barman's head onto the counter and the latter goads him into beating him up until his arm gets tired. When he reveals that the outlaw gang will kill his son if he would say anything, this caused Buck to stop and let go of him. Afterwards, the latter makes a deal with the Barman in which he will take down the gang leaders, stop their operation, and save the Barman's son. Once this is accomplished, the Barman will give out answers.

Mission[]

In order, Buck fights these five bosses, all of them with some type of protection:

  • Coward Mark:A Confederate Soldier with a Railgun. He has several eyepatch/bowler hat bandits with carbines. After he was defeated a Nightwalker ambushes from behind him and kills him but was shot down by The Exorcist, who was armed with a Witch Impaler. You have to kill six Cultists who are opening a series of demon gates that spawns in demons while the Exorcist will help you fight them off. You will need to kill all Cultists to destroy the demons gates. There is however a glitch during this mission: when you kill the Assassins, the gates will stay open until each of the two Cultists are killed.
  • Heavy Will: A Top hat bandit with a heavy pickaxe. After being kicked out of the Saloon by the latter, you have to fight through 2 waves of Highwayman bandits, who are armed with either Burnside Carbines or Knives. After they're all taken out, you have to kill Heavy will.
  • Hurricane Matt: A Confederate Soldier with a Tesla Gun. His henchmen consists of several Highwayman bandits. You chase him down with your horse all the way to Los Arcos. Avoid the dynamites that are scattered on your path.
  • Sharp Joe: A boss with a Revolver Sniper Rifle. You have to go through three waves of four Mexican bandits who will attack you from afar with their sniper rifles. On the last wave, you will snipe Sharp Joe down from Aspa Hill.
  • Lone Wolf: A Top Hat bandit who can turn into a Werewolf. His gang consists of several assorted bandits and wargs. The Exorcist will "assist" you one last time in killing them off.

Storyline[]

After Buck defeated and killed all five gang leaders, he returns to the Barman. In the Saloon, Buck discovered it empty and was then knocked out with the stock of a rifle to the face from behind. Upon regaining consciousness, Buck realized that he's tied to a chair, and sees a shadowy man is sitting in front of him.

Part 2[]

E flak s

The Exorcist when talking to Buck in the saloon

The man is revealed to be the Exorcist, who tells Buck the truth about the Barman; the latter had lied to him and that he actually doesn't have a son. The Exorcist then revealed that the Barman, who is the mastermind behind every vile act the outlaw gang had committed from Oregon to the California Coast, was the one responsible for forming the gang but was kicked out by the outlaw leaders because they think that they could perform a "ritual" without him so the Barman decided to let them go. He then reveals the gang's true nature; they are a cult who weren't searching for gold but a place of "ancient power" where dark forces can cross into earth. That ancient power can only be activated through a dark ritual, in which only one witch has the power to do so. The Exorcist then tells Buck that he knew the witch well, because it was his wife, which caused Buck to have a sudden flashback.

He angrily denies this, saying that he doesn't know anything about his wife and demands him to have him untied. The Exorcist strongly demurs, and says Buck shot her under the fact that he finally realized on who she really is. Though Buck denies this, he began to focus his memories in which he now sees his wife as a dark woman carrying a basket of skulls and holding a knife.

The Exorcist then reveals to Buck that his wife is still alive and that the bullets from his revolver were not sufficient enough to kill her, before revealing that if she reaches the place of power, the Devil will walk the Earth.

Mission[]

The next mission is Fear and Loathing in Socorro. After being let go, a discouraged Buck goes outside for a moment then goes back into the saloon to have his "medicine" (alcohol). After that, while in a drunken and rowdy manner, he will begin flirting with women around the town which angered some townsmen, who tells Buck to stop and calling him a "dirt heel", but the latter obviously didn't stop.

This resulted in a huge fight until the Sheriff arrived with two confederate soldiers to restore order. The Sheriff orders Buck to calm down under threat of being thrown into jail. Buck shoots a water tower in response, which resulted in the Sheriff getting soaked with water. Angered, he ordered the two confederate soldiers to have Buck arrested. While in jail, Buck overhears two outlaws in the other cell saying they have to get to the Barman. Buck and the two outlaws then made a deal in order to get out of jail. Buck proceeds to nag the prison guard until he got so annoyed that he'll immediately head over to Buck's cell. The two bandits took opportunity to beat him up, knocking the guard out unconscious, and escaping. Unfortunately ,however, they went back on the deal and left Buck behind.

The player then must do a lockpicking puzzle to escape. Once Buck escapes from his cell, he chased after the two outlaws, when one of them tells the other that they had to catch up with the other gang members at the abandoned train station in Arizona.

Part 3[]

Buck heads to Arizona and see that two women were being held captive by a caravan of bandits. The player must prevent them from killing the two women or the mission will fail. After killing the second outlaw caravan, he heads to the Abandoned Train to eliminate the third caravan. After doing so, he immediately heads to the end of the train wreck and noticed that a bandit is escaping on a raft going through a river, Buck proceeds to follow him to an outlaw camp at the end of the river.

There, after fighting through a large number of bandits, he encounters a bandit wielding a Flak Cannon on top of a windmill. Buck shoots at the windmill, causing it to turn and sending the bandit falling to the ground. Upon confronting him, Buck demands on the Barman's whereabouts and the injured outlaw tells him that he's inside the mines and that he gave out orders to seal off the entrance.

When Buck obtains the Flak Cannon, the outlaw warns him that it's damaged and will explode when overheated. Taking the weapon, Buck proceeds to the mines and while on the way, he was chased by two jaguars (originally supposed to be mountain lions). Upon reaching the mines, Buck threw the damaged Flak Cannon at the sealed-off entrance, causing a loud and huge explosion that scared off the jaguars.

The Exorcist and the Witch
E

The Exorcist being attacked by Buck's wife

Buck ventures through the mines and finds the Barman in Necropolis, the aforementioned ancient city. Buck finds him drinking a fluid of some sort, and the latter proceeds to sinisterly mock him. Angry at the Barman for having lied and used him, Buck proceeds to declare that he will pay for what he did to him. However, the Barman firmly declared that the ritual had already begun and that the Devil will possess his body and he will be in unholy matrimony with Buck's wife, to which she then appeared beside him. After the Barman declares that he will now take his place as king of the world, he began to cough up blood, causing him to question Buck's wife about the fluid she gave him as well as calling her a "witch". That fluid is revealed to be poison and after he coughed up more blood, the Barman falls to the floor dead.

Approaching her husband, who was frozen in shock, the witch then tells him about how she missed him for so long and how he never loved her the way she loved him. She reveals that in order to get his attention she had to create a special love elixir in which she had to spill innocent blood to keep its effects working. The witch then states that the more blood she spilled the more her love with the "dark prince" became possible, which gave her power. She reveals that the dark prince she mentioned was exiled from earth a long time ago, which is actually the Devil, and declares to Buck that once she she finishes the dark ritual they will be together for all eternity.

After she called her husband "My Devil", the Exorcist, who is armed with a Consecrator, suddenly arrives and shoots a bolt at the witch, before revealing to Buck that Her potions have poisoned his mind and that his love for her was never real. Angered, the witch reveals her true appearance and lunges at the Exorcist, who tries to shoot her again but missed. The witch then pounces on the Exorcist, violently slashing him, critically wounding him. The latter then pleads Buck to kill his wife before using his foot to kick the Consecrator to the former.

Mission[]

The boss battle consists of two rounds:

  • You must damage the witch a certain amount of times until she generates a dark, purple shield around herself. You must defeat 12-24 enemies. This happens many times, which is why bringing along many health elixirs is recommended (you should not use The Consecrator as it is inaccurate). During the fight, she will shoot flying spheres similar to the Defiler that cannot track you, and will shoot "bullets" out of her eyes, which do about the same damage as a normal witch. And will also shoot plasma that tracks you, which does as much damage as a normal witch.
  • Later in the battle, she will attack you with a knife. The battle continues normally, and a little later, and you must kill her.

Storyline[]

After Buck kills his wife, he converses with the dying Exorcist one last time, who tells him he isn't going to make it because of the many wounds he had sustained. In his final words, says, "You can't defeat darkness with darkness, no matter how tempting". However, prior to his death, the Exorcist warns Buck that he has to worry about himself. It turns out, the knife wound he had received when the witch stabbed him had punctured a dark wound into his chest, which then takes over his body. Buck is then warped to an ethical dimension, where a dark figure makes his presence known.

The Devil

The Devil in the storyline.

When Buck sees him, the figure is revealed to be a dark version of himself, who is actually the Devil himself. the Devil reveals to Buck of his responsibility for killing his wife, in which he possessed Buck's body to do so. Because Buck was really drunk and he easily forgets it, this allowed the Devil to take advantage.

Mission[]

The Devil's defeat

The Devil being defeated.

The Sheriff's arrival

Buck meeting the Sheriff outside the mines.

The Devil proceeds to taunt Buck by telling him; "What are you waiting for? Get your revenge!. When Bucks tries to shoot him, the bullet is reflected back at him, causing Buck to only injure himself in the process. After trying to shoot the Devil a few more times, the spirit of the Exorcist appeared and reminds him that he can't defeat darkness with darkness and that he should not give the Devil what he wants. If Buck shoots at the devil again, The Exorcist's spirit will repeatedly say "Lay down yer arms." When Buck does so, The Devil will mock him, saying; "You are worthless and weak." When he tries to kill Buck, however, the spirit of the Exorcist reappeared to protect him. The Devil then unleashes and throws a sphere of dark energy at him, which ricochet off the Exorcist's spirit and hit the Devil, ensuing a final fight.

Mission[]

The player must run around the Devil, avoiding his spheres of dark energy, while duplicates of the Exorcist's spirit will appear after a few seconds. The player then must stay behind them, and this will cause the sphere thrown by the Devil to bounce off the spirits and hit the Devil. After 7 hits, all the spirits will then surround the Devil and ending the battle.

Storyline[]

After the Devil's defeat, Buck exits the mine with the Exorcist's body, where he is met by the Sheriff, who allows Buck passage before ordering his men to clean up whatever is left in the mines.

-((

The Exorcist's grave

Buck then narrates that while the battle is over the war rages on. Even though the Devil is finished, his demonic minions continue to wander. Buck then swore that he won't rest until their all gone and that he'll rid the world of evil or die trying. This shows that he is doing this to repay the Exorcist. Buck is then last seen with the Lady at the Exorcist's grave.
